President Obama Expected to Tap Loretta Lynch for Attorney General

Since Attorney General Eric Holder announced his resignation in September, many supporters have been anxiously awaiting news of the President's pick for his replacement.

Today news emerged that Loretta Lynch, the U.S. attorney in Brooklyn, is expected to be the pick. Lynch is a prosecutor who is in her second stint as U.S. attorney in the Eastern District of New York, appointed by President Obama in 2010 and also serving in the same post from 1999 to 2001 under President Bill Clinton.



It is, of course, unclear whether or not Lynch will make it through confirmation in the face of fierce Republican opposition.

Lynch would be the second woman to serve as attorney general and the second African-American to hold the post.
