ASU Professor Ersula Ore Pleads Guilty to Resisting Arrest


via AZCentral.com The Arizona State University professor who claimed she was abused by university police during her arrest pleaded guilty to one count in a court hearing in Mesa on Wednesday morning and had other charges against her dismissed.

The video of English professor Ersula Ore's arrest became national news because of the heated and potentially violent confrontation it depicted between Ore and the arresting officer.

But in a brief hearing in Mesa on Wednesday morning, Ore pleaded guilty to a single misdemeanor count of resisting arrest.



Other allegations, including charges of obstructing a public thoroughfare, failing to provide identification and aggravated assault, were dismissed by the County Attorney's Office, according to prosecutors.

Ore's attorney, Alane Roby, explained her client's plea by noting that an unlawful arrest does not justify resisting arrest.
